Turkish Mosaic Lamp Workshop
About
Touring studio Art Masterclass takes over a room at the Hilton for a guided session in Turkish glass mosaic: you pick a base, from a simple candle holder to a Moon Lamp, and cover it in coloured glass under an instructor's eye. It takes place at Hilton Long Beach, 701 W Ocean Blvd, a short walk from the Metro A Line's downtown loop, on Saturday 28 November with sessions starting at 10am, 2pm and 6pm. Fever prices it by piece: Candle Holder $99, Mini Table Lamp $109, Camping Lamp $129, Swan or Aladdin Lamp $139 and Moon Lamp $179. The same company has Pasadena dates in December on our calendar.

How it compares
- Beginner-friendly
- Weekend
- Take it home the same day
No other studio on our calendar in Los Angeles runs Turkish mosaic lamp classes right now, so this is the place to go for one.
New to Turkish mosaic lamp?
You pick a glass globe and a pattern, press hundreds of pieces of coloured glass and beads onto it, then grout and polish it into a working Ottoman-style lamp.
- No experience needed; the skill is patience, and the host walks you through placement and grouting.
- Plan on two to three hours. Larger globes and multi-tier pieces take longer and cost more.
- Grout is messy; wear something washable. Most hosts supply gloves and aprons.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, wired and ready. Some hosts ask you to let the grout cure overnight before switching it on.
