About

A two-part workshop on pit firing, the ancient method of firing bisqueware in the ground with sawdust, seaweed, soil and copper carbonate for unpredictable surface effects. Part one is Thursday, Nov 19, 7 to 9pm, at Clay CA, 900 N Broadway, Suite 1080 (near the Metro A Line Chinatown station); the firing itself happens Sunday, Nov 22 at an outdoor site about 90 minutes from downtown, confirmed the week of the firing and dependent on weather. Pieces must already be bisque fired, and the class is for ages 18 and up. Prices run from $120; a December round starts Dec 10.
