Making Magic: Besom Style Broom Making

Over a Halloween weekend, artist Jada Patterson teaches broom-making from the ground up: you start with a small hand whisk to learn the binding techniques, then build a full besom, the classic witch's broom. It runs Saturday, Oct 31 and Sunday, Nov 1, 10am to 4pm both days, at LA Tactile Lab, 407 E Pico Blvd #808, downtown. The fee is $400; no experience is needed, though the work takes moderate hand and body strength.
