Chainmail Bracelets
About
Learn to join metal rings without solder and build a brass box-chain bracelet in a single evening. Cindy Heineman teaches the all-levels workshop from 6 to 9pm on Friday, October 30, at Lillstreet Art Center, 4401 N Ravenswood Ave (Montrose Brown Line). The fee is $130 ($125 members) plus a $10 materials fee. Lillstreet's Simple Silver Rings workshop follows on November 6.

How it compares
- After work
- Take it home the same day
No other studio on our calendar in Chicago runs jewelry classes right now, so this is the place to go for one.
New to jewelry?
Jewelry classes teach you to saw, file, solder and polish metal into a ring, pendant or earrings, or to work with beads, wire and chain.
- Ring-making is the classic first class; you often leave with a finished silver band.
- Tie back long hair and wear closed-toe shoes at the bench, since torches are involved.
- Silver and gold may be priced on top of the class fee; the listing says when.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, polished and ready to wear.
