You pick a glass globe and a pattern, press hundreds of pieces of coloured glass and beads onto it, then grout and polish it into a working Ottoman-style lamp.

  • No experience needed; the skill is patience, and the host walks you through placement and grouting.
  • Plan on two to three hours. Larger globes and multi-tier pieces take longer and cost more.
  • Grout is messy; wear something washable. Most hosts supply gloves and aprons.

Taking it home: Usually the same day, wired and ready. Some hosts ask you to let the grout cure overnight before switching it on.
