Opening Celebration: Irving Norman: Fight for Life
About
SJMA opens a focused survey of Irving Norman, the late Bay Area painter whose huge, crowded canvases attack the dangers of modern life and draw on his time in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in the Spanish Civil War. The free opening celebration runs 6–9 pm on Friday, Nov 13 (members' reception 6–7 pm) at 110 South Market Street, San José, near downtown VTA light rail; the show stays up through May 9, 2027. Norman is under-seen relative to his Bay Area peers, so this is a rare chance to see so many of his works together.
