Harakiri: the Cinema of Masaki Kobayashi

About

Kobayashi's 1962 samurai masterpiece Harakiri (135 minutes) screens in BAMPFA's survey The Cinema of Masaki Kobayashi: Midcareer Masterworks, which also includes Kwaidan (Nov 7), all three parts of The Human Condition (Nov 8, 15 and 22), Samurai Rebellion (Nov 11 and 21) and The Inheritance (Nov 13). Harakiri shows Friday, Nov 6 at 7 pm and again Nov 20 at 4 pm at 2155 Center Street, Berkeley, across from Downtown Berkeley BART; the organiser doesn't publish a ticket price on this listing. Seeing the nine-hour Human Condition trilogy on a big screen is a rare chance anywhere in the Bay Area.
