Print Holiday Cards Happy Hour
About
A drop-in evening for printing your own holiday cards in the Book Arts Center's print shop, billed as a happy hour with free admission. It runs Friday, Dec 4, 6–9pm, at 5501 N Lamar Blvd, Ste C125 (MetroRapid 801 runs along North Lamar nearby). The center runs a paper marbling and paste-paper class the next morning.

How it compares
- After work
- Take it home the same day
No other studio on our calendar in Austin runs printmaking classes right now, so this is the place to go for one.
If one session leaves you wanting more, 1 studio we list runs multi-week printmaking courses, from $284.
New to printmaking?
Printmaking classes cover ways of making an image you can print more than once: carving lino or wood blocks, screen printing, monotypes, etching or letterpress.
- Block printing and monotype are the friendliest starts; etching and letterpress need more studio time.
- Inks stain. Wear old clothes and expect to wash up at the end.
- You usually leave with an edition of several prints, not just one.
Taking it home: Usually the same day, once the ink is dry enough to carry. Oil-based prints may need a few days.
