A relaxed coaster-making workshop where each guest gets a ceremonial-grade matcha latte from Pink Crescent and guided help building a mosaic coaster from glass, handmade ceramic and recycled tile. It runs from 6 to 8pm on Friday, November 20 at The Mosaic Workshop, 729 Airport Blvd, for ages 18 and up. Tickets are $35; grout is optional and sold separately. The studio's Mosaics & Mocktails evenings follow a similar format on November 6, December 4 and December 18.

No other studio on our calendar in Austin runs mosaic classes right now, so this is the place to go for one.
New to mosaic?
A mosaic class teaches you to cut or arrange tile, glass or ceramic pieces on a base, glue them down and grout the gaps — on a tray, a stepping stone, a mirror frame or a lamp.
- Beginner sessions use pre-cut pieces; longer courses teach cutting with nippers.
- Two to three hours is typical for a single piece.
- Grouting is the messy part, so wear clothes you can wash.
Taking it home: Often the same day, though a grouted piece may need a day to set before it is handled much.
